Hi Keith and all, new to the forum, Steve from the Norfolk Broads. Recently had my Fjord Terne converted from diesel to a 48v steerable pod system using 4 BMW i3 lithium modules.

Unfortunately the boat yard we used has gone under leaving me with a 95% completed boat, she’s running great, but 2 of the 4 battery modules are not communicating.

Hi Everyone,

I’m new to the EBA. I have a 16 foot home built, wooden open dayboat. I am near Bourne End Bucks.

I am wondering if anyone can recommend an insurer that can deal with a home built boat.

Or advice about surveys to get some insurance.

Any help will be gratefully received.

I have no recent experience of moorings on the tidal thames, but I assume you will have checked the offerings on https://www.thamesvisitormoorings.co.uk/moorings/

In the distant past one could sometimes moor on some of the PLA pontoons, but I don’t know if they would offer a plug in.

First run out as an electric boat, September last year on Ullswater.

Motor is an 72v 3000 watt BLDC quad bike motor, with the original controls adapted to work with a Morse single lever – gets about 4 1/2 knots, using the chain drive from the quad bike kit.

The motor replaced an 11hp diesel.

On a couple of Cold November days, we have been on an RYA Level 2 Powerboat course, learning how to cope with all types of powerboats, not just the electric version we have.
